Dear Parents and Families of Missionaries in the Chile Concepcion South Mission,
Just want to let you know that your sons and daughters arrived safe and sound and looking great. The group that was on hold in missions near Santiago arrived on Monday (photo #8963), and the current group arrived on schedule on Tuesday (photo #9019). They were all met with fanfare and tears of joy…we’ve been praying them here for some time now.
Because of the earthquake, the decision as to when new missionaries could arrive went from President Swenson to the Area Presidency to the Twelve Apostles, and we got the good news just before General Conference.
Your sons and daughters came to the mission home for lunch and an orientation. We took a picture of each of them with us and they wrote you a letter on a map of the mission…those will be sent to you shortly.
Because of the number of missionaries, included in the trainers will be 22 zone leaders.
We want to put your mind at ease. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly at this email.
There has never been a better time or better place to serve a mission than right here, right now.
This is not a “rebuilding” mission. Missionaries wear shirts and ties and teach and baptize as always. There are, however, some wonderful service projects they can at times participate in if they are in the northern areas that were more highly impacted. And a temple is coming.
The Spirit of the mission has never been better. The weather remains gorgeous. We are so grateful your beautiful sons and daughters are here with us to share this great work together.
Sincerely,
President & Hermana Swenson
