to start off, thanks for the information on ingrown hairs. i dont know if i
will do it because that stuff (in our email we suggested using gel for sensitive skin and mach razors) is
expensive here and i always seem to
run out of money just from buying groceries! but we will see.
Elder Gibbs is from Centerville. he's the oldest of four sons. we are
best friends... literally. if we met at home we would have thought we were
brothers! we are doing great here in bio bio and just having a great
time working hard.
this week has been one of the greatest!! but don't jump to conclusions.
Ivan is not quite ready for baptism, but he is still working on it.
he's still trying to recover from experiences in his family where he
feels like God has left him. he says he always gives thanks for the
things he has, but the only time he has asked for something was when
he saw me and Elder Valdivia walking at night past his house. he just
asked that we would be safe and be able to get back to our families in
safety. what a stud! but we are still working with him... we also have
Nuri, the curious story teller... she is great and we actually had
control teaching her this week. we were able to stay on one subject
until the end, when she opened up and told us at least five different
stories... ha. you'd think she doesn't have anyone to talk to... but she
does! she has four kids that live close to her. anyway... she is slowly
progressing. now for the ultimate, Luis. Gibbs found him on an intercambio.
this guy is golden. we went by to teach him, taught him and he asked
when we could come back again. we said whenever you want. he said
TOMORROW. so we left him something to read and came back the next day.
he actually read it! and was waiting for us! we talked to him about
baptism. he said he wants to do it, but he needs to get rid of a
couple things. but he has a lot of confidence in us and really wants to
change. it's great! we had some great lessons. but that's not all! when we were
coming home from his house, we passed a lady and we said hola to her as
we always salud the people. she stopped us and asked us if we could
pick up a plate for her that was on the ground(her hands were full) we
did that and i opened the gate for her. then as we said bye she said
"come back next week!.. lets talk. i would love to converse with you guys!"
sweet... i don't know how many times we pass by that house a day, and
all the sudden she wants us to come by?! well needless to say it has
been a great week! i am loving it here.
AND... it gets even better! i also got doctor pepper from a member! and root beer.
i was in heaven.
end of story.
