i'm glad Curtis passed by. he's such a great kid. i miss him and it is crazy to hear that he is having a son. i cannot imagine myself having a kid! ah! he will be a great father though. and shoot mom, that's one of the first things i want to do when i get back! (I voiced my fears that he wouldn't be in shape to go snowboarding with Curtis when he got home). my knees, i feel are strong, just sore from walking all day. and man do we walk! we have a big sector and my comp is 6foot5, so we walk pretty fast... us two. and speaking of exercise... ha, i am doing a push up program that in six weeks i will be able to do over 100 pushups consecutively. i feel great working out. i haven't done pushups pretty much my whole mission. And, i was looking at shoes today... ugh. first off, it's hard to find my size. second off, they are expensive. so i am just praying that these shoes will last me till the end. there's a hole in the bottom of one of them... not too big... and the front part of the sole is coming off. but i think if i treat them like kings, they will last :). if not, i'm gonna have to find something that will get me to the end of the mission.
there is a phrase here, that literally, translated to English says, "throwing sticks", which means kind of chewing out or chastising. that doesn't really make it sound right, but it's something along those lines. well...in the meeting with the seventy, Elder Richards, he did exactly that... threw sticks. it's just what our mission needed! he told us that a small black cloud was over the mission and that it was hard to see the light. we have seen that a lot of the missionaries are pretty disobedient. partly because when Pres. Swenson left, it was just a tough change for a number of the Elders, and they didn't want to adapt. so... we have been focusing on obedience with exactness. and, it's not like ALL the missionaries are disobedient, it's just the fact that there are a few who are impeding the work. it was a great conference, just a little too long...
our plan has been working pretty well with the zone. the missionaries did awesome at challenging people to baptism this week! we went from having 9 dates to 15 dates and 2 baptisms last Saturday! in that part it was great! and... me and Elder Hall had a ton of people in church. we brought 11, our goal was to have 20, but we are content with the people that came. as a zone we didn't do so hot. there is one sector really struggling (my old sector... bio bio) so i went to help last Saturday. it was a very unplanned day. we were able to find some new investigators, but the way he planned it, we walked way too much for what we had to do. it was sad though. sometimes it's pretty tough to find people, and in that area right now, it's really tough. i just hope it gets better. it was great to go back there though! so we have some things to change in our plan, but things are improving..
our investigators are doing great. Javiera fell back into smoking again :(. but we are still working with her. she really wants to get baptized and her date stays. the other families are doing great. we are just trying to get them to pray to receive their own answer. they know it's true, but they need the spirit to reassure them. it's just so tough to get them to pray!!! however, we keep finding more and more people each day who are getting prepared by the Lord. they are everywhere, you just have to look hard to find them. we have some great families that we are helping, it's such a great experience right now. i'm loving it here... apart from the heat! oh man is it hot! i'm scared for December and January because that's when it gets really hot! hopefully i don't die of sweating to death! :)
