Email #14... May 24th, 2010

mom thank you so much for that email. that is just what i needed to hear.... you have no idea!(I just shared some of the things I learned in RS...that there will be hard times...times you feel like your efforts aren't rewarded...but the Lord is mindful of you and if you just stick to it and stay in the boat...if you are obedient in the simple things like prayer, scripture study, etc. you will be blessed!)

this week has been alright. i have been holding back harder than ever to not blow up at my companion... it has been really hard. when i look back at all the things he's done and said, its a miracle i haven't blown up. the only way i see that it worked out is because of our Heavenly Father's help. He helped me have just the right amount of patience to get through it... amazing!! i feel really blessed! i have now learned everything not to do when i train missionaries.. as rude as that sounds, its true. it's sad that there are missionaries like my companion. no wonder people get offended and fall away from the church.

well your prayers and mine have been answered! i leave tomorrow to San Pedro! it is four hours north of here, just right under Concepcion. my companion is... you guessed it... LATINO! he's from Honduras.. i heard he's a really good guy. i have mixed feelings though.. it is going to be even harder because i still don't know much Spanish and it will be hard to communicate with him. but at the same time i'm glad to get a new companion. i just don't want to leave this sector. it is so hard! so much harder than i thought it would be. firstly, because i wasn't able to communicate very well with the members. and, secondly, it was only six weeks! but goodness it is sooo hard. i said bye to a really good family last night and the mom just started bawling. she held on to my arm and wouldn't let me leave... it was so sad... i can only imagine what its going to be like in 21 months when i leave for good. probably not being able to see any of these wonderful people ever again... it is going to be really hard! but i am trying to have the best attitude i can. i hope the people in my next sector will be as loving as the ones in this one and that my next companion will set a good example for me. now i'm seeing why they say that the mission is so hard. its worth it, but hard... well that's all i have this week. i don't know if i told you but i finished my first beanie and am now crocheting ( don't know how to spell it), a new one. i'ts a great way to relax... weird, i know!

this computer isn't letting me upload pictures so i will have to try a different one or maybe wait till next week. i love you all. thanks for all you do!

tell berto he can copy music of it if he doesn't screw anything up or i will come home from my mission and beat him up. there are some conditions. he has to email me at least every other week and give it right back to you, and he has to put all his new music on it in a new folder labeled "bertos music".

p.s. i haven't gotten the package yet. probably this week i will get it. i just took out fifty bucks from my central bank account because i have to buy a ticket to San Pedro. and just in case i need some extra. but yeah. thanks mom. i appreciate all you do. tell dad hi. i'll try to email him. and tell my sisters to FEEL FREE to write their brother every once in a while. with pictures as well.

oh and this week i have been kinda sick. nothing to worry about. i have just pretty much had constant diarrhea. i got some pills and called Hermana Swenson. she gave me advice. my stomach has just been really weak. it got better for a while but today i just have that feeling in my stomach. i'm trying to drink a lot more liquids and not eat so much. but the hermanas here always feed me. and they give me this tea that they say will cure my stomach problems, but it doesn't do anything ha ha. it's just really nasty. but don't worry i'm sure I will be fine soon. just so you know.
