Email#15....May 31, 2010

thanks for your emails! wow sounds like a lot has been going on at the house.. hows the weather now? has it stopped being so weird? i hope all is going well and everyone has good health. i pray for that every time i pray... which is a ton!

well i am now in San Pedro! after a four hour bus ride.. i got off to meet my companion... Elder Espinal... ha.... he's pretty short. but he's funny. he is a hard worker; gets up on time and we get along fine!! wahoo! prayers have been answered... well it is quite a change coming from Cautin to here. we are right next to Concepcion and our sector is huge. when i say huge, i mean huuuge! just to get to an Hermanas house for lunch is a good forty five minute walk... and that's not even at the end of our boundaries... that's like the middle. so needless to say, my feet hurt bad and i am beat by 10 o clock!

the people here are different too... lifestyles and even cars! so weird. the people are a lot more wealthier here, so they are a little harder to get to.. we don't have any investigators... no appointments, so we contact all day and try to reactivate members... it's going to be a hard sector, but at least i have good help. Espinal knows how to talk to the people. he is very friendly and a great example to me. we actually communicate really well! i am very surprised.. i was worried at first, but it's not bad at all. i'm actually teaching him English and he is trying to teach me Spanish so we both benefit. just in the past week i feel like i've learned so much from him. it's great.. i just hope we can continue to get along. he also has a great attitude. always... always happy! he is really the companion that i need and the Lord knew it!! speaking of English... there are lots of people here that speak English! including the bishop! its crazy... most of the members are sooo nice, but you can tell that there is kind of a barrier between some of them that has to do with their "status"... it just sucks that people base there decision on going to church because of the people.. that just makes me want to be a better person! OH and i felt my first tremor... i can't remember what that is in English... not an earthquake,...but the mini earthquakes after the BIG one. it's an eerie feeling! but fun... haa. there is a lot of damage in Concepcion. huge apartment buildings torn in half. it's crazy what the earth can do...

anyways i love you all! and i have zone conference this Friday... i think...

Elder Jackson PS I'm sending some new pictures.
