Wow… lots has been going on at the house! that’s good though! I’m glad you all are busy doing something… and that you’re healthy! i hope you aren’t lying to me about that? my health is really good actually. my stomach is good, my feet don’t ache(as bad) and yeah… I’m doing pretty good. i don’t sleep too well at night because of my freakin bed… but i should be getting a new mattress this week… hopefully! i forgot to tell you that last week, we didn’t have gas(we have to buy gas for our space heater) and we didn’t have money to buy it… soooo… we froze to death for 3 mornings. but that’s alright because it was a good experience to make me appreciate heaters…
i still haven’t received any packages. i wonder if they got lost in the mail or at the mission office. we have interviews ( i think) in another week or so, so hopefully they will be there then... but i did get pictures! the kids are growing up so fast… it’s so crazy… but whatever you do, don’t send me pictures of you guys boating… ok? thanks… ha.
we still haven’t had much success here… we need the help of the members, but they aren’t very willing to help... so we are just contacting like crazy. i went on splits this week with Elder Staples who was the assistant last transfer. he taught me a lot about contacts and talking with the people… which was great! i learned a lot from him. then i went on another transfer just last night with Elder Gillmore (we live in the same house) in his sector. i don’t have a lot of opportunities to teach, but we got to teach the first lesson to a family of two. it went really well actually! the spirit was there and the family is so great. they are just stubborn, they just don’t want to change. it was a great experience, even though i feel like i don’t have very good teaching skills... i just pray that it gets better. speaking of prayers. i said the opening prayer with that family… ha ha. as i began, i said thank you for the opportunity to be with this great family, then i hear “AMEN!” it kind of startled me but i kept going. i said some more things and they would whisper things like “Jesus our Savior”, something about “blood” and some other stuff. needless to say it all startled me. i knew it was bound to happen though… it’s just crazy how many different ways people pray. it was a fun experience!
this week i have been up and down. some days i am really up beat and some days i’m not… some days i feel like i’m really good at Spanish, and other days i don’t understand a thing. it is so frustrating! i have faith that it will get better though. i know it will! i just need to have patience. it just gets hard when people are talking to you and they expect that you are fluent in Spanish after only two months. oh well. i can only go up, right? and my companion… it’s an adventure. it’s different living with a Latino. they just have a different life style. he´s funny, but to live with one 24/7 gets hard sometimes. luckily we live with two other elders so we both get some relief… ha. but we are still getting along well.
