Email #49....January 31, 2011

well hello!

sorry the keyboard sucks this week so it might be a little short.
but, let’s see what i can get through. first of all i FINALLY got the
packages! thank you soooo much! from the Simpsons, Bruners, and
Grandma! the Simpson’s came plastic wrapped because the envelope had
some water damage, but no worries, nothing was ruined! so thank you
sooo much! i truly appreciate the love from you guys. Just so you know
(I had asked him how often he gets mail) we usually get our mail and packages at least once or twice a month at the conferences we have every couple of weeks. so no worries about that.

well... what a week. i “killed” my comp (missionary term, he finished the
mission) we became really good friends. i will miss him for sure, but
we have business plans to own hotels, so i will see him again:).
Patricio and Carolina are doing well. especially Patricio! he is so
excited to get the priesthood and get sealed in the temple! It’s great.
Carolina, is acting weird toward me, not sure why, but there’s nothing i can
do. she is still going to church though. Ingrid, who was baptized on
Christmas has turned back to her old ways..... she and her son broke
into a clothing store (where Alejandra works) and took more than
12000 dollars worth of clothing and they are now selling it in Santiago.
where are the cops and why isn’t she in jail? that is a very good
question and i have no idea how to answer it..... i saw her yesterday,
after she didn’t go to church, smoking a cigarette and well.. totally
wasted. she could barely walk by herself. she saw me, ignored me for a
couple minutes, and then said “hey Jackson!” i asked her how she was
and she said ,“oh, I’m just going back to my old ways, that’s all." and then kept
right on walking.... what a sad moment to see her. it hurt me really. after
seeing how she had changed so much and then went back to the same ole
stuff. I’m just glad that Elder Clemence didn’t see her like that, because he
had been working with her for over three months.. and as for Claudia, we
have a baptismal date! wahoo! we still need to get her married or have
her get out of that house and we need to find out if they are dealing
drugs... so we will see…lots of things to work on!

I’m glad people say i look really happy. i honestly feel like i have
lost a lot of enthusiasm here. there is something in the air that
just sucks the life out of you. i can’t really explain it, it’s just hard
to stay happy. but I am staying afloat! my new comp is coming tomorrow.
he is Elder Lisonbee, he was my airplane buddy when we first came to Chile,
so it will be fun working with him!

that’s a bummer for Aunt Denise! i hope she heals fast… and for the house!
ugh... hopefully you won’t have any more plumbing problems!. I’m glad you fixed it though dad. and mom how is your health? Don’t lie to me either! Well,
I love you all! have a great week!
