Email #82…Monday October 3, 2011

hello hello,

time really is flying by! those pictures that you sent were gorgeous mom. i can't believe it's already fall there. and the family looks good! is Millie (the dog) getting fatter? from the pictures it seems so!

conference was great! we got to see all sessions! it was awesome as always. i love being able to hear a real prophet's voice and hearing exactly what our Heavenly Father wants for us. there is nothing more comforting than to know that we have a living prophet with us here on the earth to lead and guide us... along with his apostles. i'm sure we all have learned a bunch from this past weekend.

we had interviews this week with our president. it's always so good to be able to talk to him about our everyday challenges and receive counsel and advice on how to better ourselves. we have an inspired president, who is going to make this mission even better than it already is. as we finished with our interview... as i was walking out the door, he says, "Elder Jackson, do you like challenges?" with a little smirk... i said yes (what else do i say to my mission president?). he said, "well... get ready for some!" so we will see this next week when we receive transfers... the zone leaders told me i could be up for opening a sector, but we will see. i'm ready for a new challenge. just pray for me to have the strength to do my best!

the day of interviews (Thursday), i started not feeling so hot. after sitting in training and interviews for four hours, i was getting sicker and sicker. by the time the meeting was over, we had to travel from Collipulli back to Angol by bus... as always. well, bus rides get worse and worse for me... ha. so...add being sick on to the bus ride... i just wanted to die. my head felt like it would explode from congestion. we made it back, stopped by a recent convert's house who wanted to give us Chorrillana (one of my favorite dishes), i ate a little, and then we went straight home at like 9ish (we normally get in between 10 or 10:30). i took a shower and went straight to bed. i slept from 9:30 p.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning! it was sleep that i hadn't had in a very long time! i slept so well, but i was still sick. well, it started off as a fever/cold and then just turned into allergies ('tis the season) so now here i am sitting at the computer, congested still! hopefully i can get that fixed this week.

ok. questions to answer... my release date, as far as i know right now is... i leave the 14th and will be home the 15th of February. i am planning on going back to school in the fall of 2012. i really want to go to Utah State...their Engineering Department has a good reputation. if i don't get accepted, i am thinking of BYU-I or UVU. i am planning on working one or two jobs as soon as i get home to pay for a truck and for schooling... as well as use student loans. so if you have any job ideas that would pay decent... please let me know. some guys are trying to get me to go sell in California, but i don't really want to do that. it's too much of a gamble. that's kind of my plan... and to just kick it with my family!!

love you... have a great week!

elder jackson
