hey, hey, hey... i never said i was a GOOD singer mom! (In my email I had said… In my heart I knew you would be a singer) i just decided to sing because… well, there’s only two other men and about ten women in the choir… seems like everywhere i go I’m just outnumbered by women!... but i would like to get a good voice. Elder Valdivia knows everything about voice and singing so he can help. he is from Arica Chile, by the way, it’s the furthest north in Chile on the boarder of Peru. and yeah, if you could send me maybe both (referring to "gringo" recipes), a copy for the computer and a copy to send on dear elder… more desserts than main dishes please, but if they’re easy main dishes that would be cool.
that's sad that Jack passed away, but the way i look at it, if he was suffering it’s for the better right? it seems like you guys are ALWAYS in Monticello! I’m really jealous actually… ha. but that’s good. There is something in Monticello that’s different, i agree mom. maybe it’s because i remember as i child being there… but i swear there is some kind of spirit there that just makes you feel good. I’m very glad to hear that nothing is wrong with you mom, i hope you’re not hiding anything either! i knew that you would be blessed as long as i didn’t worry about you. but of course i'm going to worry a little bit! You’re my mom for crying out loud! but I’m glad all is well. I’m also glad to hear that Barry´s sight is better! That’s so great!
Well… here in Chile things are going great. we had the husband of a member come to church these past two weeks. they are divorced (relationships are kind of weird in Chile), but she invited him to church. he had never been to a church, but enjoyed it. last week he only went for sacrament and this week he stayed for the class for investigators. we were able to teach the third lesson to him (faith, repentance, baptism, Holy Ghost and endure to the end) and he actually opened up about his life. he had screwed up his family life with his wife and his son but wants to change that. he wants to change his life for the better. he said he wanted to find happiness and to mend his life personally, as well as with his family. hay esta the gospel! He’s going to quit doing things that he’s doing and he said he wants to repent. we didn’t even have to ask him. all of this he willingly said. i believe he will progress. the only problem is that he travels a lot... so he will be gone these next three weeks... BUMMER. but that’s alright. he started to read the Book of Mormon and said he will read it while he’s traveling. SWEET!
i also had another amazing experience, but i don’t think I’m going to share it all. all i can say is that fasting is so powerful and that our Heavenly Father listens to us. thanks to the Holy Ghost, we were able to see a magnificent change in an Hermana. from the beginning of the appointment to the end… there was such a difference! at first she was not really happy we were there, but thanks to the guidance of the Holy Ghost, she changed. at the beginning of the appointment she said that she wasn’t going to go to church until she really felt it was right. it was so crazy… we had already planned what we were going to share with her, but the spirit guided me differently. i actually flipped open my scriptures, looked down and found a highlighted spot on the page. i read it and felt that it was exactly what she needed. we shared it with her and then my companion asked, when do you think you will feel that change? there was a very long silence, it felt like an hour... but it wasn’t awkward at all. the spirit was so strong in that house. then she responded, i just received it. whoa! not only was it the experience i had been praying for, but more importantly it was just what she needed. we then had her say the closing prayer and this was where the spirit was even there stronger. she could barely finish the prayer from the tears. oh man what an amazing change! the gospel is true!
well i love you all and hope you have a great week!
there’s another funny story i will tell next week… if i remember, ha. but i will send pictures of our tiny house this next week, i just keep forgetting to take them.
love,
elder jackson
