Email #30...September 14, 2010

hello hello!

well, this P-day is a little strange.. it’s so weird being on a
Tuesday! we had a conference yesterday that was amazing… pretty long
though! but there is nothing better than hearing the inspiration from
your mission president… every time i hear him i just feel so much
better. the conference was more about teaching with the spirit and
things that we can do to bring in the spirit… and then practices. it
was really great and i learned a lot.

well i got sick again! i guess there has been a virus going around
that’s not too good. yeah, i got it! i felt it coming on Friday night…
had a stomach problem all Saturday. Saturday night i got some pills
which fixed my stomach. then Sunday it changed from the stomach to the
head.... oh my goodness! i have never had such a bad headache/migraine
in my life!! it was worse than jaw surgery headaches! Plus I had pains in my
back and in my jaw muscles. needless to say, church was not very fun
for me.. but I’m better now… thank heavens! it came and went and now I’m
just happy I’m almost back to normal…only a minor headache lingering.

the funny story I mentioned last week was… an older (older… older) Hermana went
up to bear her testimony for testimony meeting last Sunday. she
began to talk and i don’t even know how she got on the subject but she
mentions that she goes to a Discotec (sp?) (a well known dance club in Concepcion) once a
week. but the dance club is for young... young people. However, i guess they
have some kind of dance class for elderly women during the day.
anyways, the whole ward was in shock / laughing because this grandma
had been going to a Discotec! then she said, “ oh great… now the bishop
will probably want to have an interview with me.. “it was just so
funny! …but maybe you had to be there. Just imagine--an older woman in
her 70´s, with thick, thick makeup; high heels that are bright, bright
blue; bearing her testimony about a dance club. Yeah, it’s funny. Ha, ha

this week, on the 18th, it’s like the 4th of July for Chile. It’s going to be
crazy.. i guess we will be eating a TON... I’ll probably gain a good
seven pounds... but pictures will come next week! i love you all and
hope you have a great week! thanks for the recipes mom. I’ll see if i
can find some of that stuff to make them.

love elder jackson

here are some pics ….

amazing sunsets,

drinking mate out of an orange(so amazing),

the sign says that you are prohibited to throw out trash, and... well they throw
out trash right next to the sign. You’d think that they’d at least throw
it some distance from the sign...

other pictures from the conference with my (cousin) elder Mondragon… literally everyone thinks we’re cousins… which we probably are distant cousins because he’s from Manassa and well… everyone there is related…right?

one with Elder Roy, a great missionary who is going home this cambio.

Elder Fernandez who is in my district, Elder Wilde, me, and Mondragon.

A dog that sits at the dinner table properly.

and elder oversby who is eating cereal out of a
tupperwear bowl with a soup ladle. gotta love the mission!
