The Zone....
well hello,
I’m really sad to hear that my best friend came home... i hope and pray
that in time he can make it back… because i know a mission will help his life
in so many ways! support is the key! and since some of his family didn’t
support him, it would be hard leaving home for two years…it is hard without
the utmost support from the family… but i hope his testimony can
still be strengthened and that he can keep himself grasped to the iron
rod.
Mom, I’m sorry… i got the package with the ties the other day… thank
you soo much! i thought i told you but it must have slipped my mind.
A few questions… will you send me the recipe for o’henry bars? I’m going
to try to find corn syrup.
and who are converts in our family? I’ve never really asked that before. grandma and grandpa? or does it go way back? I’m interested in that.
and i forgot to tell you that during the conference we had, we had a game of scripture mastery for the first lesson. out of about fifty, me and my companion won! it was a fun game. kind of like musical chairs, but our legs were tied together!
well another cambio has come! how fast this time is going!..... i am
really amazed! I’m staying here in bio bio and Elder Valdivia is going
to Coronel. Elder Gibbs is going to be my compaino. i actually know
him… which is kind of weird. He’s a great guy and I’m really excited to
be working with him. I’m not gonna lie, i had it up to here with
Valdivia. I’ve been a lot better about not saying much, but let’s just
say six weeks was perfect. one more cambio would have been difficult.
this week was really good. my studies have been great lately. i
suggest reading in Mosiah 4 which talks about the atonement and how
great our joy can be with the atonement… Isn’t that the truth? speaking
of… we went to what we thought was a ward correlation meeting, which
turned out to be all the north stakes in Concepcion south coming to
listen to the Auxiliaries. Elder Corbage had a good question. he
pretended to be an investigator and asked the audience, “what does it
matter to me if Joseph Smith was a prophet. what does it matter to me
if the church is true. what does it matter to me if the Book of Mormon
is true.” have you ever really thought about that? what is the answer?
after a bunch of people gave their comments, and after he repeatedly,
humbly said no. His answer…the answer… is because we can literally receive
forgiveness for our sins through the atonement of Jesus Christ. That’s
the truth! the atonement plays such an important role in our lives. That’s
definitely my testimony. thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ, and the principles and truths it teaches, i can receive forgiveness for my sins and be happy! some people drink to be happy and do other things that they think bring happiness, but that only works for a short, short period of time. but the atonement is eternal. it brings us eternal happiness.
so i bought a new maté cup this last week and to cure it is a real
process. well i cured it but it didn’t work out.... there is a family
here...the Maurers. they are Argentinans and pro with maté. well i went
to their house… a little bummed about my mate… to see if they could redeem it.
after a great effort on their part, it still didn’t work out…however, one of the family members gave me her maté. not just any mate… but her favorite, one that she bought on a trip to Argentina. i could not stop smiling and neither could they. i love being here in Chile, meeting these wonderful people who are so generous, even when they don’t have much. it is a wonderful place…really. but now i want to give them a gift. any ideas? maybe something
